Well, it’s been busy around your Club recently! This week we had the Prizegiving for Wed Night Racing on Wed night (appropriately!) which was conducted in an orderly and socially distanced way, and with the Club sold out for dinner that evening. The Trafalgar Night menu was fantastic – kudos to Luca and Cassius. Our food and beverage product and service go from strength to strength and I know I am not the only fan. Thanks to those who continually strive to keep standards high.
Thank you too to all of you who came out on Thursday evening for the SGM to vote on the two projects that your Committee of Management was proposing. I am delighted that the result was our decision to purchase a fleet of six RS21 sailboats and I know that this addition will ensure that RHADC’s contribution to sailing in Bermuda is assured. To all who sail them, please treat these boats like your favourite child; they have to last a long time and we all owe it to our membership, who supported our decision to buy them, to keep them in tip top condition.
The proposed renovation of the lower bar clearly needed better preparatory work, so this proposal will be refined and brought back to the membership at next year’s AGM. With the long-delayed project to turn the tennis courts into an income-producing dry storage for boats and the installation of the solar panels scheduled to take place over the winter, we have enough on our plates for now. I would like to reiterate what I said at the start of the SGM in thanking all our many volunteer committee members for all the time and energy that is dedicated to making sure our Club is the best it can be. All their efforts are much appreciated and they deserve our thanks and support. The Nominating Committee is already considering the composition of the various committees for 2021 and so I would urge anyone who would like to get involved to please make themselves known to us. Thank you.
