Your Commodorable had breakfast yesterday at the Club after yours truly departed on what turned out to be the slowest BOCA race in the history of time. He remarked afterwards that this was not the first time he had breakfasted there after the departure of the racing boats and that breakfast is consistently good. In fact, he went on to say that breakfast at RHADC is probably one of Bermuda’s best kept secrets. Where else can one sit outside with such a beautiful view on a peaceful terrace and enjoy great food and great service? So, folks, the secret is now out…… come and enjoy breakfast at RHADC on Saturday and Sundays.
It turns out that we are quite good at keeping secrets, or rather, hiding our lights under a bushel, as many commented to me that they did not know that last weekend was the Anniversary Weekend and we have noticed ourselves that Saturday evenings at the Club are often very quiet. One of the staff mentioned this weekend that someone had phoned up about take out and was surprised to learn that there was dinner on the terrace each Saturday evening. The word is out about Friday nights as they seem to be very busy, but I would like to recommend Saturday night too – less hustle and bustle, but a delicious meal with that lovely view again!
So, that got me thinking about how to more effectively get the word out. The calendar feature on our website is very cumbersome to open and then tedious to scroll through to see exactly when breakfast, lunch or dinner is being served, so we will work on that to make it more user-friendly. It could also perhaps be menu-fatigue? I know that when we have been dining at the Club frequently over a reasonably short period of time, the Commodorable is begging permission to leave and nip over to the Harbourfront for some sushi to ring the changes. Why don’t we ring the changes ourselves? Why not have an Entertainment Committee to come up with themed menu evenings? Are we the only ones who long for sushi, or a real Italian night (we suspect Chef Luca can manage that quite well!). We used to have an Entertainment Committee; now that members are starting to ask about Christmas and New Year at the Club, perhaps it is time to re-visit that? Any volunteers? Any new (or more experienced) members care to step up and get a few friends together and become our Entertainment Committee? We do have to look at things differently with the Covid restrictions and precautions in place – sadly we now know will have to live with this for quite a lot longer – so perhaps now is a good time to be looking at new ways to engage our members? It isn’t fair to put all the onus on Cassius for coming up with menu themes or special Club nights (maybe we could do another virtual guest evening similar to what we did with Gary Jobson?) as don’t forget that he has the responsibly for all the operations of the Club as the Food & Beverage Manager position has never been filled after he stepped up to GM. Suggestions to Wendy please and all offers of help will be gratefully received.
that is only $1,000 each.
