RHADC’s brand new fleet of RS21s offers members the opportunity to charter for fun and racing with low costs, easy access, and a walk-on, concierge service.
About the RS21 Fleet
Late in 2020, the RHADC membership approved the purchase of 6 brand new RS21s. The RS21 responds to the need for a progressive, simple and affordable solution for keelboat clubs that increasingly see the opportunity for fleet ownership, league competition and training, and pay-as-you-go sailing.
With the new fleet of boats getting on the water is now easier than ever. Seasoned racers can get certified and charter a boat for racing or training, while those with less experience can take advantage of our Adult or Youth Sailing Programs tailored to this new fleet of boats.
Get a team together and lets go sailing!
RS21 Sailing Programs
The RS21 the ideal club keelboat for sailing lessons. The Sailing Academy is excited to offer an Adult Sailing Program tailored to this new fleet.
Adult Learn-to-Sail – The RS21s feature list packs a punch when it comes to learning to sail; forgiving boat handling, low sheet loads, a mixture of sail options and reassuring stability. This program aims to introduce you to the fundamentals of sailing.
Step Up to the RS21 Program – This program is designed to introduce you to the Club’s RS21 boats and is ideal for those looking to get comfortable in the RS21 and aiming to get certified for charters. The curriculum will be tailored to meet your needs and level of experience. To schedule a lesson, please contact the Sailing Office and quote “Step Up to the RS21”: Call (441) 236-3077 or email sailing@rhadc.bm
Private Lessons – The Sailing Academy offer private lessons for up to 4 people. Please contact the Sailing Office if you are interested in private lessons.[/cro_accordionitem]
Youth Sailing Program
The RS21 is the perfect keelboat to bridge the gap between junior and adult sailing in Bermuda.
Youth Program – The RS21 provides a pathway for older juniors as they progress away from Optis to more more performance oriented classes of sailing (Lasers, 420s, Nacras and RS21’s). The Club’s RS21 Youth Program is currently open to sailors on invitation-only basis.
Contact the Sailing Office if you are interested in learning more about the RS21 Youth Program.

RS21 Boat Charter
Get Certified:
Prior to your first charter of an RS21, all RHADC members are required to complete a one-time certification session with one of the Club’s instructional staff. Each charter skipper is required to undergo certification regardless of years of experience. The certification provides a chance to see that you have sufficient skills to sail the boat safety and appropriately in a range of conditions that you may encounter. It also provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the RS21 boat, our charter procedures and rules, and the designated sailing areas.
Up to 4 family members can schedule one certification session, however skipper certification is assessed on an individual basis. The certification fee is $75 and the session typically takes 1 hour.
For more information about the certification process or to arrange your certification, please contact the Sailing Office. Call (441) 236-3077 or email sailing@rhadc.bm
Familiarize yourself with the policies and documentation:
Review the below charter manual and important RS21 documentation. These documents contain important details on chartering an RS21 boat, our procedures and rules, as well as FAQs.
^ All charters are subject to a $750 Damage Deposit. This deposit is applied to the charterer’s RHADC Member Account until after a post charter boat condition review.
Pricing for other events to be advised. Please refer to the RS21 Charter Manual for more information about chartering an RS21. To reserve a boat for racing or training, complete a reservation form. Once your reservation is confirmed by a member of staff, simply show up and your reserved boat will be ready for you at the dock.
To celebrate the arrival of the new fleet the Club hosted a Taster Day for members to experience these boats first hand. Sailing under blue skies and a steady warm breeze, the day was filled with fun and provided a great first experience of the new RS21 Fleet. We plan to host a follow up day in the near future given the exceptional demand.
