Hi, I'm Robert Mason, current Commodore of RHADC. It is my honour and pleasure to serve my fellow members and our community in this capacity for the next couple years. I have been a member of RHADC since 1995. I joined the club both as a sailor and for the social amenities. I haven't been disappointed. The club has provided a great base from which to sail over the years. Too, it has provided a great after racing place to relax and debate the results of the days activities.

It's not all about sailing, though. My wife, Theresa, and I also simply like to get out on the water for fishing, cruising, going to fitted dinghy races to raft up with friends, and to generally enjoy the great on water resources that we have here in Bermuda. Talk to any RHADC member and they will tell you what a great nautical home the club is, no matter your preference for sail or power.

As to my credentials for the Commodore's job, in my civilian career, I work as an accountant. Naturally it was only a matter of time before the tap on the shoulder came with the request that the club needed a new Treasurer. I accepted the role and enjoyed five years in the job. I think we made progress over that time. However, after several years, it was time to get some new blood in as Treasurer. So I asked the nominations committee to help with my exit plan. Little did I know that their exit plan for me would require several more years. Thus I moved from Treasurer to Rear Commodore, and up through the ranks from there. It has been a great experience working in each activity area of the club.

Through my time volunteering at RHADC, I have met many of the members, but not all. So if I haven't met you before and I see you in the club, let me know about it. I'm here as the head of a group of dedicated volunteers and officers who represent you members. We're always ready to listen to your comments and suggestions.

From here we're continuing a program of steady change at RHADC that started a number of years ago. Our goal - to keep moving the club forward always evolving and improving to meet our member expectations while respecting our long history and traditions. To that objective, along with our successful traditional events, over the next two years you will see lots of new activities at RHADC. I hope you'll join us for the journey. See you at the club.
